An early departure from Broome has us traveling down the Highway and Gibb River Road towards the picturesque Napier Range. Once a
Devonian reef, these mountains are over 350 million years old and home to a diverse array of animals and plants. The perfect place to
experience the stunning natural beauty of an outback oasis is the 3.5km geological wonder of Windjana Gorge. Beneath gorge walls rising
90m, we search for freshwater crocodiles and local birdlife. After lunch, we explore Tunnel Creek, a 750-metre cave system carved through
the Napier Range, in which we discover secret caves and subterranean wildlife. It is here we also learn the legend of Jandamarra, an Aboriginal
freedom fighter who used the tunnel as a hideout in the late 1800’s. We continue our journey along the Gibb River Road before arriving at
our accommodation for the night.

Continuing our journey, we arrive at beautiful Bell Gorge. A hike takes us down to the spectacular and classic West Kimberley waterfall and swimming hole. We will have time to enjoy the scenery, fully explore the area and a refreshing swim with lunch prior to making our way to Adcock Gorge where we can enjoy a relaxing swim under the waterfall. After visiting the falls we enter Durack land, cattle pioneers of this tough country and travelling East we get an appreciation of the harsh, but inspiring, country that these early cattle men and their families set through in the hope of improving their lives. Many came and went, some perished, however others were the backbone of opening up Northern Australia and their legacy lives on. This afternoon we arrive at our accommodation in the heart of a working cattle station.

This morning, we continue along the Gibb River Road, where we enter Durack country, cattle pioneers of this tough country. Travelling east we get an appreciation of the harsh, but inspiring, country that these early cattle men and their families set through in the hope of improving their lives. Many came and went, some perished, however others were the backbone of opening up Northern Australia and their legacy lives on. A surprise awaits as we call into an outback oasis for a ‘Devonshire tea’ break. This afternoon we arrive at Emma Gorge Resort where the modern outback facilities are eagerly appreciated.

We have a full day to explore the iconic El Questro Wilderness Park, where you may recognise the landscape from the Baz Luhmann movie ‘Australia’. The most famous station and tourism resort along the Gibb River Road will not disappoint. The spectacular landscape, dotted with boab trees and spectacular gorges is the perfect environment to appreciate the captivating beauty of this remote region. We explore the station, take a dip in the warm spring waters of Zebedee Springs.

Today we leave Emma Gorge for the Bungle Bungles, we have ample time to explore the extraordinary World Heritage protected Purnululu National Park, the most famous of which are the Bungle Bungles domes. Rivers created this landscape of unique orange and black striped ‘beehive’ geological formations over a period of 20 million years. Unbelievably, only the locals knew it existed until the early 1980’s; once discovered by others, the area was made a national park in 1987. We explore Echidna Chasm, known for its towering Livistonia Palm trees and traverse the escarpment.

Today we will continue our exploration of the Purnululu National Park. At the southern end of the park we take a walk along Piccininni Creek to the lookout prior to continuing into stunning Cathedral Gorge, where towering rocks create a natural amphitheatre. There is the option of an inspiring helicopter scenic flight over the Bungle Bungles that will surely be a highlight of your trip. In the evening view the sunset enjoying drinks & nibbles before heading back to the lodge.

Today we depart for Kununurra but will do one final early morning hike at the Mini Palms (if time permits due to flights) before heading along the spring creek track where your tour concludes once we arrive in Kununurra.
